Edinburgh City Council is governed by Lord Provost and the incumbent Lord Provost of Edinburgh City Council is Donald Wilson. This city was given city status in the year 1889. Edinburgh has six Members of Scottish Parliament and five members of Parliament. Both Scottish parliament and seat of the Monarchy are located in this Council area. Broad green Swathe of Princess Street Gardens divides in two the Centre of Edinburgh City.
